A Bit About Us - Breastfeeding

Where do I start off? I wanted to write about who I am now and what Eva and I do day to day.
Since before I had Eva I knew I wanted to breastfeed, and thankfully after weeks of hard work and bad latches, milky blisters and engorgement - we were still breastfeeding. I think family and friends were put off by me constantly having my ginormous boobs out and I don't care who I offended with it, you all need to realise I was doing whats best for my baby.
In hospital

pea head smaller than my boobies!

Fast forward to now. Eva is 9 months old, were still breastfeeding and family and friends still feel the same way...
Its frustrating because on one hand people want you to give your baby the best but they don't want to see it!
I'm just so proud of breastfeeding at all because it is such a hard thing to do, there are so many obstacles to overcome and I am so glad I did it, thanks in part to the support of Martin and my midwife friend Rachel.

Haha Martin won't be happy about the picture and to be honest it really isn't flattering of me either but what the hey. Sometimes its necessary not to give a funk what others think, and this is one of those moments.
This post is written because of World Breastfeeding Week 2013! Go Milky Mamas!

DIY Pink Braid Glitz Tee

I am an absolute hoarder of anything pretty and always keep ribbons and bows and such like from presents I receive. I have devoted a whole box to them and even keep old wrapping paper, or anything else I am a fan of.
Well, I have a lot of time on my hands when breastfeeding Eva to sleep at night or for naps and I do spend an awful lot of time on Pinterest. Here is what I found.
I was in love with this top and had to recreate the detailling which is just so precious!
Eva is only in 9-12 month clothes and some 12-18 months are starting to fit now but I am obsessed with her wardrobe and love the fact that she grows out of things so fast, cos it means I can buy her even more and change her look far more often than I can change my own (shallow I know but its not what I'm all about, keep reading I will prove I'm multi-faceted)

Anyhoo I read a couple of tutorials on how to do braids using ribbons (link here) and a couple of tutorials on how to make ribbon flowers (link here)

In the end I made the braid by starting it as if I was doing my own hair, except I pinned it onto an old piece of cardboard and as I made the braid I glued it down and stuck pins in it to keep it down. I let this dry and worked on some tiny ribbon flowers. Once this was all dry I took the pins out of the braid and was left with tiny holes, which I thought I could cover with the diamantes I had saved. Then I simply stuck on a couple of the flowers and stuck it on the top! Tada!

Unfortunately as I said before baby Eva won't be wearing this one for a little while yet as she's only around the 21lb mark and in 9-12 month clothing. Since she started moving around her weight gain is much slower than before, which I don't mind because clothes last much longer than before and she's already a big weight to carry around.
Thanks for reading!

Motherhood - A Change in Creativity

Since becoming a new mama I find my creativity has spilled into new areas of my life. Instead of being work oriented I am a loving mama to 9 month old Eva, and she is my number one priority in life now.

Just home from hospital
I don't know if I can still be so full on passionate about web design anymore as I am so happy being a mummy to my sweet angel. Becoming a mum has changed me, I have adopted a slower, easier pace of life just so I can enjoy every moment with my little one. I cannot believe the time has flown by so fast already as it seems like minutes ago she was only just born and the weather was getting colder. Now we have moved into our new house, which is a big adjustment, and are coping with the hot Summer we are having here for a change! (A very nice change I might add)
Mumma and Bubas

I'm often asked 'What's next? Are you going back to college, or work?' I ponder this quite often but what is so wrong with enjoying being a mum? I always wanted this more than anything in the whole world. Way over getting qualifications or traveling and earning lots of money. I have found new happiness in being a mother and just being a mother. I enjoy cooking from scratch everyday, making a home for my family and playing with this wonderful sweet child I created with my partner. Thankfully Martin is supportive as he also feels its right for Eva to have a stay at home Mum, and perhaps in time have a little brother or sister too!

I would like to start blogging again at least but this blog may be very different outlet for me than what it was before.

Thanks for reading and hopefully I can muster up the courage to continue writing more.

I am a NEW Mummy!

I haven't blogged in ages, I have been far tobusy adjusting to life as a new Mum to my baby girl Eva Joy Reay.
Born on the 21.10.12 at 6.04am weighing 8 pounds and 1 ounce. Life has been a whirlwind lately and I barely have the time to catch my breath.  Thankfully we are all starting to adjust to life together and things are getting easier to do now. I can't believe she is almost 6 weeks old tomorrow, time really has flown by!

my baby girl Eva Joy Reay - a few days old!
cheeky baby smile!
I thought I should update my blog and let everyone know I am keeping my commitments to a minimum right now so I can focus on bonding and being with my baby girl, so please don't be offended if I don't reply straight away. Thanks for reading and sharing my joy!

Maternity Leave Joys

Hey all, I have not been feeling myself at all lately. Least of all because of the jumble of emotions I am feeling every day (3 weeks to go now!) because of lack of sleep etc. I swear I get no sleep these days, I am up through the night so many times to visit the loo ( I can manage in the dark now without even opening my eyes!) OH and so annoying, the only time my boyfriend then puts the toilet seat down is at night!?? WHY BOTHER??? And he does it even though I tell him DON'T! Its now a habit with him.. Nobody wants to head to the toilet, with their eyes still closed, pull down their pants, and hit the cold toilet lid! That wakes you up right there!

Then, aside from frequent toilet visits, I sometimes get woken up and wonder, 'Hey, why am I awake?' and I think 'Do I need a pee? hmmm No' and I realise, someone else has woken up. The baby! By now I have learned to deal with it, switch the light on and grab a book. At the moment its Game Of Thrones, 21 days to go and I reckon I will have read the whole trilogy by the time she arrives. Good book by the way. She decides to wake up at the same times every night now so I am getting used to it, and hope that when she's here she can keep that pattern.
I hope to co-sleep with her so she can breastfeed at night, and I won't miss feeling her close by as well. My boyfriend is against this as he thinks he will roll over her, but I tell him she will be on my side anyway, far away from him.

Today I just had to say something about it all as I feel awful, have had a headcold and stomach bug for a couple of weeks now and I hope she doesn't decide to appear early as I want to be well over this. Right now it really doesn't help trying to sleep with a banging sore head and churning stomach.

AND... I have been nesting since like JUNE! Its not gone away, the whole house is transformed and I can't see there being a limit to what I want to do. Right now I am working on sewing up some cushions. But then the sewing machine I borrowed from my boyfriends mum decided to not work for me and in my sleep deprived way I just decided to go buy a new one today.

Please wish me luck, I want to get these cushions sewed asap and I am determined the living room will all match and be tastefully decadent by the time my baby decides to make her appearance.

Enough said. Here's a cute picture.
