Ok so maybe I haven't been that webby recently

Hey yo,very tired and couldn't get back to sleep when baby decided to wake up at 6 am and she's been at it ever since. I'm sure people will say its preparing you for motherhood but I would still prefer if she just chilled out sometimes.

I haven't been all that webby or trying to look for new freelance work at the moment since my baby is due in just over 7 weeks now! Could be 5 - 9 in reality! Man I cannot wait to have her here.

I have been creating a couple of different landing pages for Argyll Chalets and Apartment for all of the different UK holidays that we have, just reminding people we are here and open!

Some images Michele sent me of Argyll Chalets yesterday;

Argyll Chalets is having absolutely gorgeous warm weather at the moment and we are at the height of the fishing season in Scotland with Pike fishing season open all year round! Permit fishing from the banks of Argyll Chalets is included as well as the use of two rods.

I can't wait to go back but looks like it might not be until Winter - which is so picturesque and magical.

I have found ways to unleash my creativity though!

Pinspiration is my inspiration

Recently I have become a wee bit obsessed with Pinterest (follow me @ http://pinterest.com/brigidg86/) maybe its because I feel like I have to nest for the baby coming but its also helping me feel more inspired and helping let the creative juices flow. This is a social media where you create the content and normal marketers so far aren't involved. Its a breath of fresh air and allows you to be yourself.

I would go as far to say that its the best thing thats happened on the internet forever. Of course Facebook was groundbreaking, at the time. Now its old news, I'm obsessed with that too but its fast becoming monotonous. People moaning about their lives, or posting about the most ridiculous thing that happened to them "OMG a bird hit my window"

So if you too feel the need for something new then don't hesitate to join me. http://pinterest.com/brigidg86/

If you're a techie, foodie, fashionista, parent, social media enthusiast or just a general good internet lover, I'd love to check you out. Post your twitter screen name in the comments.

Inspirational Quotes

The key to success is to never stop learning, well "great people never stop learning" - Bill Gates

"Every really good creative person…whom I have ever know has always had two noticeable characteristics. First, there was no subject under the sun in which he could not easily get interested-from, say, Egyptian burial customs to modern art. Every facet of life had fascination for him. Second, he was an extensive browser in all sorts of fields of information. For it is with the advertising man as with the cow: no browsing, no milk."

-James Webb Young, writing in his 1939 guide to producing ideas, articulates a timeless truth about the relationship between curiosity and creativity.

"Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through." — Ira Glass

Cr8:v-design (Brigid Visser's) Creative Web Design Projects

To date I have completed a number of web design tutorials and websites for live clients.

In The Beginning

The fictional Cante Risorante -

page web site tutorial I followed

Cante Ristorante Home Page

The Fictional Shears Design -

5 page website design tutorial I followed online.

Shears Design Home Page
Ck Massage -

CK massage is a real company that I contacted to see if I could do a few mock pages for a website for them.
Ck Therapies
Then when I began college in September 2011 we were given various web tutorials to follow.

Check Magazine -

We were only required to complete the Home page for this exercise.
It included a 3 column layout below an image with text centred to the far left.

Check Magazine Home
Health Website -

As part of a group exercise including myself, Ross, Sophie and Daniel we came up with Healthline.

A contemporary website design that was targeted at women who were interested in finding out more information on how to be healthier.

Clients: Creative Website Creations

Forwantofabetterword Copywriting Services

For want of a better word was the creation of Helen Evans, my Communications lecturer at Jewel And Esk College. She needed a website to sell her skills as a copywriter.

The website was a 7 page design based on a newspaper style of layout, including the colours and images that were used.

Jay Biros Game Design -

Jay Biros is a game designer living in the US who needed a portfolio website design to act as  a cv (or resume if you are American).
The website design focuses on a static navigational bar that sits on the left hand side, and the user can scroll from top to bottom to view his work.

The Present

I have my final examination on all my studies in just over two weeks time, I won't say the date yet in case I jynx it! I hope to at least pass the exam as I have been so busy with other commitments recently the studying has been put on the back burner and I feel really bad about that.

The next big project is a re-design which I mentioned in a previous blog post.
I am properly free from June so if you also need a creative web design then contact CR:8v-design!

If you have any questions on anything in my blog don't hesitate to get in touch with me!

Thanks for reading!

Why Its Important to Update Your Website Content?

Why its important to update your website content?

To most people the answer may seem obvious. However for one reason or another they decide not to, this could be due to cost, or finding someone with the same ideals they have for their business.

What happens if you don't update your website?
The email address could have changed by this point, your telephone number, or opening hours. Your Google ranking will slowly start to go down as you dont update the content. Google indexes your content every 30 days, so to stay on top make sure you are engaging your audience and the Google bots

This means people could be missing out..

What you need is good, regularly updated content, your meta data needs to be in context with the page's content.
This means you should be using http://www.seocentro.com/tools/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html to ensure the content visible on the page to humans matches the content in the head, the hidden part that Google bots use to ensure you are indexed.Basically its how 'search engine friendly' your web pages really are.

If you dont update the site, people wont find you.

Bad practice

The dont's of website updating, this might not be so obvious again and in a few places I worked for this went on regularly. It was only when our content varied from the competition that we moved up the Google ranking and higher up on a natural search.

Directly copying content from another website. Even if its your own website or blog, change the content because you will lose out in the ranking stakes. Google will rank you the same or lower than the other page. Of course you are also breaching copyright!

Make sure your content is written in good English and by a content writer who has access to the key words people are using for in query searches.

How I can help.
If you're website hasn't been updated for a while and you are aware of a change in the business, the content really needs to be updated.

If you need any help in getting your website indexed higher on Google then speak to me for a custom built package to help your site go up the Google ranks.
